Q: Please introduce yourself. Tell everyone who you are and where you came from.

A: Hey guys, my name is Ethan aka Alt Bloom. I am an artist who is from Montana currently living in LA !

Q: What is it like to live on the West Coast? Does it inspire your music in any way?

A: California is an amazing state. You can go from a Kim Kardashian party to the base of the Sierras (mountain range) in four hours. The amount of access you have to the deep outdoors is amazing. From skiing to surfing to backpacking, to climbing, CA really has it all.

Q: Who inspires you musically?

A: Tom Petty, Mac Miller, Bob Dylan, Oasis, Still Woozy, Anderson .Paak, etc…

Q: How would you describe your music in terms of a visual imagination?

A: Nature meets city. Lofi Pop. It’s a mix of everything I love, sometimes leaning more rnb, sometimes leaning more alternative.

Q: What’s your writing and producing process like?

A: It varies per song how the start but the finish is all the same. Starts can be a top line, a song written on guitar or piano, just a track that I started late one night, but the end is always a few days of fine tuning lyric, working how track and melody work together, working on transitions from section to section and the push to make it feel as honest as possible per song. Meaning it sounds like you are listening to a moment.

Q: What do your fans mean to you? Your tribe, you call them.

A: The tribe is my people and an extended family. It goes beyond being a fan of my music. We are always having a conversation on life and goals together. Good people coming together to share their weight and light.

Q: Your music seems to focus on a significant other. Who is that significant other? Is there just one? Many? Specifically you say, “why don’t you take my heart and call it home,” in your single “Call it Home.”

A: My lyrics are always derived off of two things, truth and desire. Meaning it’s a mix of my life stories and stories that I want. No one song is about a single person. It’s usually off of a feeling and I find the moments in my life when I had that feeling so I have a deeper pit to pull from when I write.

Q: What’s your favorite lyric from your own music? Why?

A: It’s always changing. One of my favorites currently is from a song, “Sway” I have coming out. “If there’s knocking now, no one here’s it out.” Talking about how when love comes to my door I have a hard time crossing into attempting it. I think it’s why my songs lust so much for love.

Q: What do you do in your free time? Looks like you love the outdoors/nature. Does being outdoors help you with your creative sense?

A: Being outdoors helps me keep my feet grounded in reality. We can get swept up in all the things humans are doing a planet earth. Such as movies, celebrity, news, and career. When I’m in the woods I remember I am lucky my heart is beating and I am alive to enjoy this beautiful day. That we are in a domesticated society in a wild world and at any minute that society could be turned upside-down.

Q: If you were to perform with any musician/band, who would it be and why?

A: Passed, Tom Petty, alive the Gallagher brothers.

Q: What’s your main message to young musicians who are looking to become who you are today?

A: Study who you love and outwork anybodies opinion if you believe in what you are doing. If you study you will understand your road, if you listen (to opinion) you will get confused by somebody else’s.

Q: What are you doing to entertain yourself during the quarantine?

I bought an old motorcycle and Wurlitzer. They are both keeping me busy.

Q: Tell us about your new EP coming out June 5th! What should we expect? What is the story behind all of it?

A: The title of the EP is Astronaut Complex. All the songs are a story of love from start to finish. The title is a reflection on a few things I have felt in life and I’ll leave to your imagination.

Q: I like one of the questions in a post of your own. If you could leave the house and go anywhere right now, where would you go?

A: On a tour to see all the tribe’s beautiful faces.

Q: Please add anything else you’d like that you feel is necessary.

Thanks for the time! Stay active and keep growing.
